The mission statement of Beats by Dr Dre speaks volumes for the headphones and speakers it offers. With their innovation in the music world, " people are going to hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should. Founded barely 6 years ago in 2006, the Santa Monica based store is now a leading company with their headphones forming around 53 percent of the market transactions of products in the same category.

Andre Young is a hip-hop/rap artist. Dr Dre is his pseudonym. He, along with Jimmy Lovine, chairperson Insterscope-Geffen-A&M records, introduced their first headphones in 2009. They launched them with the partnership of Monster Cable. These headphones gave listeners to hear the spectrum of sounds which is usually heard in huge professional music studios. The two entrepreneurs initially wished to produce high quality speakers. However, Monster Cable supported manufacture of headphones. Ever since their launch, this has become a leading brand, and many other competitors are following their tow in making sound systems.

Later they also started selling speakers of studio quality. Their latest product is Beatbox portable which can be taken anywhere. They are now working in partnership with many electronic manufacturers like HP, HTC and Chrysler. They have given licenses to these companies to install their brands in their products. Today HTC smartphones are fitted with this audio system. HP Envy laptops also have these installed in them. Chrysler 300S Luxury cars have now got their audio products fitted in them.

Their contract with Monster Cables expired early this year. Now HTC is their leading partner. HTC owns over half the shared of this company. Andre Young and Jimmy Lovine have smaller shares.

Despite this, Beats is an autonomous body and works independently. They acquired an online music services as well. Music on the Go, popularly known as MOG, is in league with them to provide quality music to listeners. Therefore, it was only normal for them to be interested in MOG.

They engaged popular singers for their publicity. This attracted youngsters to their head phones. They have now started to target older buyers, and successful professionals. Their partnership with Chrysler has helped expand their market significantly.

Beats by Dr Dre is now considered to be a hallmark of quality. Consumer demands have shifted a good deal owing to Dre's innovation. A new race has now begun, and Beats seems to be leading.
