Mauritius holidays are not complete without investing a day at La Cuvette, the stunning long, white beach that extends from Grand Baie to Cap Malheureux. Here you could take part in all sorts of water sports, according to the amount of adrenalin you enjoy. You could go for a tranquil sub ride to see the amazing colorful reefs, and ghostly shipwrecks, to the more dynamic sports such as para sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing.

The typical free diving height is a spectacular 10 000ft and the views from the airplane are breathtaking. From high up the unbelievable contrast between white sand, emerald green greenery and turquoise sea is even more awe-inspiring.

If you do not really enjoy being in the water or being in the air, you can appreciate hiking in one of the many natural reserves. All the reserves are really well kept and get a good amount of public financing. The fauna increases every year. One of the best well-known nature reserves is the Black River Gorges National Park where you will discover numerous unique bird species. Bird sightings that are especially outstanding are those including the Mauritius Kestrel and Mauritius Fody.

Knowing that you will enjoy city life and shopping, night life and great nature, the very best thing you could do is plan an itinerary that will permit you to travel around the island giving yourself a day or two for each thing that you want to do.
