Clever Ways to Tell the World About Your Travel Experience

By Patrick James

Okay, you just had the liked holidays to Turkey, and you now arrived home. You have interesting stories and countless photos relating to your Istanbul city tour, your experience in tasting Turkey's cooking delights, your amazing ascent to Mt. Ararat's summit, and your shopping experience in the coastal town of Kusadasi. Now, you want to share them to your friends, family, relatives, colleagues, fellow travellers, and everyone in the world via your blog.

But how? Understand that there are many other travel blogs in the Internet. To make your adventures known, you should make your online presence stand out. Below are great guidelines to do just that.

1. Make your blog effortlessly readable. Be sure that the text is easy to read, and it doesn't blend into the background. As an example, utilize simple Arial or Times Roman font as opposed to Script or Forte fonts. Don't use text that blends with the color of the backdrop. Make use of an uncluttered background to avoid distractions.

2. Never use too much extra features in your blog design. Yes, I understand that you like to tailor-make your blog by putting lots of extras. However, putting too much widgets, interactive programs, and monitoring applications can definitely let your readers' attention wander away. Remember that individuals visit your blog to read about your travel experiences, not to marvel at your designing abilities. They want to read the story about the sights that you visited, the amazing things you witnessed, the activities you did, and the experiences you've been through while you were touring the place.

3. Include a lot of pictures in your blog. Images are poignant, and your photos will definitely get the attention of your viewers. It will show viewers what the Eifel Tower actually looks like, the beauty of a sunset in Canada, the earth below the top of Mt. Ararat, or how Thai tuk-tuk looks like. Using images, you can show your climbing, city tour, scuba diving, resort hopping, clubbing, etc. experience better than just mere words.

4. Provide interesting details. As an example, you want to share your experience eating in an exotic Turkish restaurant. Don't simply go for the "I came in, I ordered food, the meal was delicious, I paid for the bill" approach. Illustrate the looks of the waiter. How about the sound of tiny bells as you took your order? Or the out-of-this-world hotness of that scorching peppered dish? How about the red tapestries which adorned the place? Explain your experience as felt by all your senses; doing so will make readers feel like they were next to you! Assume that you climbed Mt. Ararat on your cheap holidays to Turkey. Don't just describe your adventure in a "we climbed, we reached the summit, we went down" post. Place details on it. Describe how beautiful the scene is as you ascended. Explain how you navigated throughout the rocky, slippery soil while going up. Let us know about your camping experience where you had nothing but cold meals. Tell us about that heartstopping moment when your friend almost fell down a ravine. Describe your experience in five senses so that readers will feel as if they're there with you.

5. Offer information that is useful. In my case, I typically include an itinerary, a few tips, and a budget. For example, after I return from Krabi from a climbing trip, I include a 2-day weekend schedule; how much a traveler will spend for the transportation, food, leisure, and guide charges; who to contact as a guide, best months to visit, suggestions in taking care of your money, as well as other details. This way, your blog won't just be a typical travel blog but a traveller's resource.
