3 Terrific Approaches to Fitness Motivation for Women

By John Colvick

As if there wasn't already enough to think about, fitness motivation for women is another issue for busy women to ponder. You may be occupied at home, have a career, or a combination of the two. You have to somehow fit exercise into your already overwhelming schedule. Normal life experiences take their toll on all of us, so we know what it's like to try to regain a level of fitness you may have had years ago. Having sufficient motivation is the key to success when it comes to starting and sticking with a fitness or exercise program. Study and put into practice these fitness motivation practices for women, as they can be very effective.

One method that helps some women get motivated is to think about another time in their lives. They remind themselves of a point in time when they were truly unhappy with their physical appearance. This is a way for them to gain an extra dose of motivation for exercising when they need it. This method can be utilized in a several ways. Some women put old photographs in conspicuous places where they will be easily reminded. You don't need a physical photo, however, as it can also be done by picturing how you looked in your mind. Setting specific goals like doing workouts using an exercise bike in a daily basis is always a good idea, so you know what you want to achieve.

Some people seem to have a knack for succeeding and excelling in whatever they do. It's also well known that such people tend to share some predictable characteristics. Having a single-minded resolve to accomplish their goals is one of their typical traits. If they have challenges or obstacles, they move forward anyway. They only seem to know one direction -straight ahead. When things look bleakest and most hopeless, they only try harder. These characteristics can be learned and developed by anyone. You have to tell yourself to keep going enough times until it is second nature.

All of us know all too well that life has its surprises and special moments that can interfere with just about anything. So if something happens that prevents you from working out, do not come down hard on yourself. Avoid beating yourself up because you didn't work out. Whatever happens, look to the future hopefully so you can continue making progress. You have to let go of whatever has occurred and move on. Negative feelings can be the worst thing for your motivation, so don't let them get hold of you. Do whatever you can to prevent feelings of self doubt.

Women have issues with fitness motivation because of their varying needs and considerations. This doesn't mean that men are better; there are simply differences between the sexes. These differences need to be considered as women approach ways to maintain a positive state of mind. Reading up on ways other women maintain their focus and motivation can be helpful for when you run into motivation issues of your own.
